Jason and Thomas knew they wanted a casual and outdoor wedding. They wanted to wear something that was light and breezy. White linen pants were selected to reflect purity as well as to reflect earthiness.
A turquoise shirt with two white stripes were worn to symbolize creation, spiritual unity, creativity, joy, and the joining of pure hearts. Black sandals were worn to speak to the many feet that have walked this land - accomplishing much through enduring struggle. |
Jason and Thomas recognize many paths of spirituality - Christian, Unitarian, Universalist, Shamanic, Native American, Jewish, Metaphysical, New Age. For this celebration to truly be special, it was important to them to connect with the Earth. There could have been no better place to have such a celebration than in Abilene, Texas, at Cassy's Healing Center. And there could have no better person to perform the marriage than proprietor and minister of the Centre, Shawna Hayhurst, of the Golden Eagle Tribe / Golden Eagle Ministries. The wedding enveloped all flavors of spirituality with a primary Shamanic ritual but also involved readings from the Christian Bible as well as the Talmud.
